SETTING GOALS TO AVOID BECOMING OVERWHELMED

SETTING GOALS TO AVOID BECOMING OVERWHELMED

AUTHOR – Nataliya Dolinska – Transformation & Love LifeStyle Inspirational Mentor.

New Year, a Fresh Start. Don’t you just love it? I do.

This is my favorite time of the year, when I grab a pen and put down a few #easy-to-achieve goals for the year. You probably also have done that and have your own way in doing so. We all are different and unique, yet, we all have ambitions to grow! Therefore, you need a clear vision of what you would like to happen. This can sometimes be challenging. Especially if you are an “artist” type and tend to dream big.

Whatever sphere of your life you’d like to embellish on this year, whether it be your mindset, finances, health, relationship or self-care; here are a few life hacks that I have tried out myself and how I accomplished them, that I’d like to share with you to avoid having your ambition turn into overwhelm 😉

STEP # 1

PURGE BEFORE SETTING GOALS

It’s easy if you think in spheres.

F.eg.

  • Self care
  • Relations
  • Career or business

Get crystal clear on what you do not want. Get all those things you don’t want to experience over the next 12 months out of your head and write them down.

When you do that, you’ll notice that it becomes crystal clear what it is that you want to happen. Get all those things you want to experience over the next 12 months out of your head and write them down also.

To help yourself to get a clear picture on your goals you could ask yourself:

  • What do I want my life to be about this year?
  • How do I want to spend my time?
  • Who do I want to become?
  • Who do I want to spend time with?
  • What emotions do I want to experience most of the time?
  • What skill, habit or character traits will I need to develop in order to make this happen?

Remember to put all your focus and energy on what you want.

STEP # 2

APPLE

I like to think of life as a garden. You need to take care of it so you can have a beautiful and healthy harvest. Sometimes you need to cut some branches. Why do you need to do so? This way the juice and the energy becomes concentrated, resulting in the plant or tree growing more healthy and stronger.

To help yourself to decide which branches are to be cut, you could use the three filters below.

FILTER # 1

What is the payoff for making this project or these goals happen? (the emotional, physical, financial impact).

FILTER # 2

How does this project or these goals ultimately benefit others?

FILTER # 3

Who will you have to become in order to make this project or goals a reality?

Now, go grab a pen and set up your #easy-to-achieve goals!

Using this easy-to-use, two-step plan will help you to eliminate the burnout before it happens 😉

And remember: The ancient wisdom teaches us; LESS IS MORE!

  1. Amazing blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are
so many options out there that I’m completely confused ..

    Any tips? Many thanks!

    1. Dear Denise,
Thank you for your amazing comment. It’s natural that you feel a bit overwhelmed when you are about to start on something new. I’d recommend the following:

      – put down in writing what you are certain about: a subject, the size, your target audience…
      – put down in writing which three topics you’d like to expand in the nearest month
      – take one of them and describe the process (the steps) that need to happen to handle this topic
      – make a check list of to do’s for this process and put it in the agenda
      – start doing it ;-)!
Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? It depends on what are your goals with this platform and how well your are familiar with maintaining it yourself. If you are not educated about websites at all, I’d recommend to do that. You need the basics anyway. For more issues you could ask a web designer to do that.
