I always do everything fast and don’t stop until it’s done because I don’t like wasting time and believe that fast and efficient makes me who I’m. The result? I’m productive and I don’t waste time.
My guess, you are driven by the pattern of overachiever. According to Wikipedia Overachievers are individuals who “perform better or achieve more success than expected.” The implicit presumption is that the “overachiever” is achieving superior results through excessive effort. It’s a pattern. It’s not you, so you can change it, if you want to.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR PATTERN
Although many people suffer from stress, overwhelm, anxiousness and perfectionism they keep running the same pattern and even some oppose the idea of change. That’s because they perceive CHANGE in a way that makes them believe that this requires to give up their identity. Who they believe, they are and/or the qualities that they value a lot. Nevertheless, as much as you desire to change experiencing life this way, it won’t happen until you keep that STORY.
There is nothing wrong with thriving to excellence, do it fast as long as this is not the only measure for everything you do. What happens to a car if you never switch the gears from time to time? If you keep this pattern your suffering won’t become less or disappear. Many people believe it’s the job, there are too many things you must do. It might be so for a part, however it’s you who decides how you approach it. And if you believe that the answer to it is outside of you, then even if you change the job, you’ll find yourself overachieving again pretty soon. Because it’s a habit. You can change circumstances, but if your story stays the same, whatever you do, you will repeat this behaviour until you consciously decide to break it.

In order to breakthrough you need to realize that as much as you try to protect yourself from the negative impact of this pattern, it does its thing – it destroys you. Because the emotions that support that pattern are harmful if you experience them regularly. They kind of burn you from the inside. There are hundreds of research studies that show what stress, anger, anxiousness, anxiety does to you.
Besides a person who constantly experiences stress is very sensitive to anything around him and can be triggered very easily. And it’s not easy to be around such a person who gets easily irritated, is it? So it also has a negative impact not only on your health, but also on your relationship and the others.
